ScanRaise is a technology platform operated by StanHattie LLC, a company based in Des Moines, Iowa. ScanRaise provides QR-code-based fundraising tools to organizations including PTAs, sports teams, churches, fire departments, and other groups. ScanRaise is not a charity, bank, payment processor, broker, or financial advisor.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an Organization account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information and keep it current. ScanRaise reserves the right to request verification of your identity or organization at any time.
ScanRaise charges a platform fee of 2.5% on each donation received through the platform. This fee is deducted at the time funds are transferred to your organization's connected Stripe account. Stripe's own payment processing fees (currently 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) are separate from and in addition to ScanRaise's platform fee. Platform fees are non-refundable once earned. ScanRaise reserves the right to change fee structures with 30 days' notice.
All payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. By using ScanRaise, Organizations agree to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement. ScanRaise does not store credit card numbers or bank account details — all payment data is handled by Stripe. Stripe's Privacy Policy governs the handling of payment information.
Organizations must:
Donations are made at the donor's own discretion and risk. ScanRaise does not guarantee or control how organizations use donated funds. Donors are responsible for verifying the legitimacy of any organization before donating. Tax deductibility of donations depends entirely on the receiving organization's status — ScanRaise makes no representations about tax deductibility.
Donors may request a refund within 30 days of their donation if the campaign has sufficient balance. Stripe processing fees on the original donation are non-refundable. Organizations are responsible for any chargeback fees. ScanRaise's platform fee is non-refundable once disbursed.
Organizations may receive funds in one of two ways: (a) directly through their connected Stripe account according to Stripe's standard payout schedule, or (b) through ScanRaise's platform collection, in which case ScanRaise collects donations on behalf of the Organization and disburses funds monthly via check or bank transfer, minus the platform fee. In both cases, ScanRaise reserves the right to place temporary holds on transfers for verification or suspected fraud. ScanRaise is not a bank and does not hold funds in trust — platform-mode funds are held in ScanRaise's Stripe account until disbursed.
Each Organization receives a public donation page (scanraise.com/give/org-slug) that accepts general donations to the Organization. Donations made through this page are subject to the same fees and fund transfer terms as campaign-specific donations. Organizations are responsible for the accuracy of information displayed on their donation page, including their name, location, and any associated campaigns.
Organizations may create events with paid or free tickets through the platform. Ticket purchases are processed through Stripe and are subject to the same platform fee (2.5%) as donations. Event organizers are responsible for delivering the event as described. Ticket refunds are handled at the Organization's discretion. ScanRaise provides check-in tools but does not guarantee event attendance or quality.
Organizations may sell merchandise through their ScanRaise store (scanraise.com/shop/org-slug). Purchases are processed through Stripe and are subject to the same platform fee (2.5%). Organizations are solely responsible for product quality, fulfillment, shipping, returns, and any applicable sales tax. ScanRaise is a technology platform and does not handle inventory, shipping, or product disputes.
Organizations may create auctions and raffles through the platform. Auction bids are binding — the highest bidder at the close of the auction is obligated to complete payment through Stripe Checkout. ScanRaise uses row-level locking to prevent bid collisions, but does not guarantee that all bids will be accepted in cases of extreme concurrency. Raffle winners are drawn randomly by the platform. Organizations are solely responsible for complying with all applicable state and local laws regarding raffles, games of chance, and auctions. ScanRaise does not provide legal advice on raffle legality. Raffle ticket purchases and auction payments are subject to the same 2.5% platform fee.
Organizations may send email campaigns to their donors through the platform. Organizations must comply with the CAN-SPAM Act and all applicable anti-spam laws. Every email sent through ScanRaise includes an automatic one-click unsubscribe link. Organizations may not remove or obscure unsubscribe links, send emails to purchased lists, or use the email system for purposes unrelated to their organization's fundraising activities. ScanRaise reserves the right to suspend email access for any organization that generates excessive spam complaints or bounces.
Organizations have access to a donor management system that aggregates donor activity across donations, tickets, orders, auction bids, and raffle entries. Organizations are responsible for handling donor data in compliance with all applicable privacy laws. Donors may request erasure of their personal data (right to erasure / GDPR Article 17) by contacting the organization or ScanRaise directly. Upon a verified erasure request, ScanRaise will anonymize the donor's personal information across all records associated with that organization, including donations, tickets, orders, bids, and raffle entries. Anonymized transaction records are retained for financial reporting purposes.
Supporters may create personal fundraising pages linked to an organization's campaign. Page creators are responsible for the content they publish on their pages, including text, images, and fundraising goals. ScanRaise provides time-limited edit tokens (90 days) for page management. Pages that violate these Terms or contain inappropriate content may be removed without notice. Donations made through P2P pages are subject to the same fees and fund transfer terms as other donations.
Political campaigns, candidates, PACs, and campaign committees may use ScanRaise to collect contributions. ScanRaise is a technology platform and does not constitute a political action committee, campaign finance entity, or reporting agent. Political users are solely responsible for compliance with all applicable federal (FEC), state, and local campaign finance laws, including but not limited to: contribution limits, donor disclosure requirements, employer/occupation collection where required, and filing deadlines. ScanRaise provides donor data export in CSV format to support compliance reporting but does not enforce contribution limits, collect FEC-required fields beyond name and email, or file reports. Campaigns must implement their own contribution limit tracking. ScanRaise reserves the right to terminate accounts that are found to be in violation of campaign finance law.
Tracking accuracy: Activity tracking depends on device hardware, GPS signal quality, and environmental conditions. ScanRaise does not guarantee the accuracy of GPS, step counting, or timer data.
User responsibility: Participants are responsible for their own safety during tracked activities. ScanRaise is not liable for injuries sustained during walks, runs, swims, or other physical activities.
Anti-cheat: We reserve the right to flag, reject, or modify activity submissions that our verification system identifies as suspicious or fraudulent.
Third-party services: Strava and Fitbit integrations are governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies. ScanRaise is not responsible for the availability or accuracy of third-party fitness data.
Photo check-ins: Photos taken during activity tracking are stored for verification purposes and automatically deleted 90 days after campaign completion.
