Fundraising Disclaimer
Platform Role
ScanRaise is a technology platform operated by StanHattie LLC that provides QR-code-based fundraising tools. ScanRaise is not itself a charity or nonprofit organization. The legal classification and registration duties that apply to ScanRaise can vary by jurisdiction, campaign type, payment flow, and activity. ScanRaise does not claim a nationwide exemption from professional-fundraiser, solicitor, fundraising-counsel, or charitable-fundraising-platform laws.
Organization Verification
ScanRaise does not currently provide a universal verification of every organization's tax-exempt status, charitable-registration status, or legitimacy. Organizations remain responsible for their own local, state, and federal duties, including charitable solicitation registration requirements. Those organization duties do not eliminate any separate classification, registration, eligibility, disclosure, accounting, remittance, or reporting duty that applies to ScanRaise.
Tax Deductibility
Donations made through ScanRaise are not guaranteed to be tax-deductible. Tax deductibility depends entirely on the receiving organization's tax-exempt status under IRS regulations. Donors should consult their tax advisor and verify the organization's status before claiming any tax deduction. ScanRaise does not provide tax, legal, or financial advice.
Use of Funds
ScanRaise does not control, guarantee, or monitor how organizations use the funds they raise. Organizations represent that they will use funds as described in their campaigns. Donors contribute at their own discretion and risk.
Money Handling
- For connected Stripe campaigns, Stripe processes the donation and pays the organization according to its account-specific payout schedule
- For approved platform-mode campaigns, ScanRaise collects donations in its Stripe account and pays the organization monthly by check or bank transfer
- ScanRaise charges its disclosed 2.5% platform fee on donations in either payment mode
- Stripe's payment processing fees are separate from ScanRaise's platform fee
Auctions & Raffles
ScanRaise provides auction and raffle tools as a technology service. ScanRaise provides raffle drawing functionality that selects and records a winner. Organizations are solely responsible for ensuring their auctions and raffles comply with all applicable state, county, and municipal laws regarding games of chance, charitable gaming, and prize drawings. Some jurisdictions require permits, registration, or reporting for raffles - organizations must obtain these independently. ScanRaise does not provide legal advice regarding raffle or auction legality. Prize fulfillment, delivery, and quality are the sole responsibility of the organizing entity.
Email Communications
ScanRaise provides email campaign tools to organizations. Organizations are solely responsible for compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act, GDPR, and all applicable anti-spam regulations when using these tools. ScanRaise automatically includes unsubscribe links in all campaign emails but cannot guarantee delivery, inbox placement, or compliance with all jurisdictions' requirements.
No Endorsement
The presence of an organization on ScanRaise does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or verification by ScanRaise or StanHattie LLC. Organizations listed on the platform are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by ScanRaise unless explicitly stated.
