Swim-a-thon Fundraising for Swim Teams

Swim teams use ScanRaise to run swim-a-thons without paper pledge sheets. Each swimmer gets a fundraising page and QR card, sponsors pledge per lap or give a flat amount, and the coach records each swimmer's lap total before any pledge is charged.

How a swim-a-thon works

1. Set up the swim. Create the campaign online with laps as the pledge unit, and add each swimmer. Donations go straight to the team's own Stripe account.

2. Collect pledges. Swimmers share their cards and links. Grandpa pledges $1 a lap with a $50 cap, and an aunt gives a flat $25.

3. Count laps at the pool. Lane counters keep count the way they always do, on a lap sheet or a pool counter, and the coach records each swimmer's reviewed total. ScanRaise does not count laps itself.

4. Finalize the results. When the totals are final, ScanRaise attempts each sponsor's charge for the laps swum, never above their cap, and lists any charge that fails so you can follow up.

Team totals

The campaign page can show the top swimmers, or you can hide swimmer totals and show only group totals.

Flat gifts

Not every sponsor wants to pledge per lap. The same swimmer page takes one-time gifts toward meet travel, lane lines, or a new scoreboard.

Banquet tickets

Sell seats for the end-of-season banquet, and scan each ticket's QR code at the door.

Email to families

Send the swim-a-thon kickoff, reminders, and thank-yous to your team mailing lists.

For school use, ScanRaise is listed in the SDPC resource registry and provides parental-consent and student-data controls designed to support schools' COPPA and FERPA obligations. Fees

ScanRaise keeps 2.5% of each donation. Stripe also charges a card-processing fee. There is no setup or monthly fee.
