Field Operations + Fundraising

Turn your volunteer army into a verified field operation

Routes assigned, miles tracked, doors logged, donations raised. The campaign manager sees who actually walked the routes, who raised, and who showed up empty-handed but put in the miles. Recognition is composite, not just dollars.

The old way wastes volunteer effort

You hand a clipboard to a volunteer and never know what happened. Did they walk the route? Skip half the houses? Spend the day at a coffee shop?
The hardest workers are invisible. A volunteer who walked 15 miles in a tough precinct with $0 raised gets the same thank-you as someone who didn't show up.
Every door is one chance, and you waste most of them. A donor who said yes at the door has nowhere to give in the moment. They say "I'll donate online later" and never do.
You stitch together five tools. NGP VAN for the walk list, a clipboard for outcomes, ActBlue for donations, a spreadsheet for tracking volunteers. Nothing connects.

How a canvass-a-thon works on ScanRaise

You draw turfs. Map polygon for each ward, precinct, or zip cluster. Or list out streets the old-fashioned way. Either works.
You assign canvassers. Each volunteer gets their own route - polygon or street list - and a personal QR code printed on a card.
They walk and log. Volunteer opens /canvass on their phone, sees their assigned route, taps a button at every door (Conversation, Knocked, No Answer, Refused, Do Not Contact). GPS tracks miles in real time.
Voters scan and give. The QR code goes straight to a donation page tied to that canvasser. Money flows direct to the campaign committee's Stripe account, not through ActBlue.
You see everything live. The dispatch dashboard shows every canvasser's miles, doors, donations, and composite effort score. Real-time leaderboard. Recent doors map updates as they walk.

What's in the box

Turf drawer

Draw a polygon on a map, or type out a street + cross-street range. Each turf gets assigned to a group of canvassers.

Per-canvasser routes

Each volunteer gets a personal sub-section of the turf with custom instructions ("walk down 87th, back up 86th, between 1st and 7th Ave").

GPS-verified mileage

Phone GPS tracks every step. The system knows when a canvasser is in their assigned zone vs. off-route.

Door log

Five-button outcome tracking: Conversation, Knocked, No Answer, Refused, Do Not Contact. Logged with lat/lng, no voter identity ever captured.

Donor QR at every door

Volunteer's personal QR code on a printed card. Voters scan, donate, the canvasser gets credit on the leaderboard.

Composite scoring

Effort score = donations + miles + doors, weighted. The volunteer who walked 15 miles in a tough precinct ranks even if the wallets stayed shut.

Dispatch dashboard

Live map of canvassers, recent doors color-coded by outcome, leaderboard, totals by precinct. Refreshes every 30 seconds.

Strava + Fitbit auto-import

Volunteers who track on a watch can sync their walk to ScanRaise automatically. No double-logging.

The day, end to end

Saturday morning kickoff

Campaign manager opens dispatch. Sees 32 canvassers across 4 wards. Each one has a turf and a route assigned the night before.

Volunteers walk

Each volunteer opens /canvass on their phone. GPS consent prompt, then their route appears with a map. They start walking.

Every door logged

Tap. Tap. Tap. Conversation at house #4. Donation scanned at house #7 ($25, covered fees). No answer at #8 through #14. Tap. Tap.

Manager watches live

Dispatch shows colored dots on the map, leaderboard updates, totals tick. "Sarah hit 200 doors. Mike's at 8 miles but 0 donations - he's in the rough precinct on the east side."

End of day recognition

Campaign sends an end-of-day email with composite leaderboard. Sarah ranks #1 on doors. Maria ranks #1 on dollars. Mike ranks #2 overall on effort despite raising less - the miles count.

Pricing

Donations are always 2.5%. The subscription unlocks the canvass-a-thon (turfs, GPS miles, voter file import).

A note on canvasser privacy and FEC

GPS tracking is opt-in. Volunteers see a consent screen the first time they open /canvass and tracking only runs while the page is open. Door logs capture lat/lng + outcome but never voter identity. Donation data exports as CSV for FEC reporting (donor name, address, employer, occupation when over $200, when you flag a campaign as fec_reportable). ScanRaise is a technology platform, not a campaign finance advisor - confirm contribution limits and compliance requirements with your campaign finance attorney.
